Runa_v3
Developed in 2025, Runa v3 is a robot created by PyLoT Robotics that competed in both the Japan Open and the World Championship. It features a lightweight and highly modifiable structure based on aluminum framing and MDF, with additional components produced using 3D-printed parts.
Overview
Runa v3 is designed around an aluminum frame with a low-center-of-gravity structure. Most of the batteries and electronic circuits are placed on the first level, while the laptop sits on the second level, also kept low to improve stability.
The robot is equipped with the following sensors:
RealSense D455
RealSense D435
Hokuyo UTM-30LX
Livox Mid-360
In addition, Runa features a 1-axis lifting mechanism and a 6-DOF manipulator, enabling a wide range of manipulation tasks.
Lower Section
The lower section houses the batteries, power circuitry, and the Mid-360 LiDAR.
Runa uses two Makita 99W batteries connected in parallel, allowing for increased capacity. A diode-based power cutoff system is implemented for improved electrical safety.
Manipulator
The manipulator consists of a 6-axis arm powered by Dynamixel actuators and a lifting mechanism driven by a stepper motor.
It can reach objects on high tables and shelves, and the arm can be folded in when the robot is moving to avoid interference.
Upper Section
The upper module includes a RealSense D455 and a head display. Both are mounted on a pan-tilt mechanism powered by Dynamixel actuators, giving them full vertical and horizontal mobility.
An easily accessible emergency stop button is installed on the upper backside of the robot. Its elevated position ensures reliable access from multiple angles.
